A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots." Marcus Garvey.

Did you know that there are two types of family trees? They is a genealogy tree and the other is DNA. The genealogy tree for us is maintained on ancestry.com and the other is done thru sites such as 23andme.com and ancestry.com/DNA. Our family tree for the Elmore Family can be found here: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/2395821/family. Contact me to obtain an invitation to be a Guest. For the latter, as raw data is obtained from each person's chromosomes, that information is uploaded for example to Gedmatch.com or FamilyTreeDNA.com. The results are astounding. There are at least three of us currently within the family who have that passion to know our roots and have invested time and money into making information available to each of us. It is that important. Our stories as a race of people let along our family history has been hidden far to long. It in incumbent upon each of us to write our stories, make the videos, and even movies to document our past. Our prayer is that God would raise up more family members with a passion to research our history.
One of the ways, that we can celebrate family is to attend and be part of our family reunions. We had our first one in 2000, and then our next one did not happen again until 2013. It was at our oldest matriarch's 100th birthday celebration (Sadie Elmore Wilson) that we decided it was time to come back together to celebrate our heritage thru a family reunion. After the 2013 one, the planning Coordinators decided to have one every 2 years. We celebrated our 2015 family reunion on June 26- 28, 2015; our 2017 was on June 23-25, 2017; and our 2019 one was celebrated on June 28-28, 2019. Save the dates for our upcoming 2021 Biennial Elmore Family Reunion tentatively planned for June 25 - 27, 2021. Come and represent your branch of the Elmore Family, Kin, & Friends via Zoom. Embrace this God-Given technology. Your ancestors will be smiling from afar!
